Managing at The Drama Book Shop

The last big thing I did before the pandemic was interview for a job that I really wanted. I felt it was a great meeting. That night I received an email about scheduling a second interview. A day later I got an email saying that everything was, understandably, on hold for the foreseeable future. Fifteen months later, I had the opportunity to pick up where we left off and have that second… and third interview.

Now that all is announced, I’m incredibly excited to tell you that I will be part of the management team at the Drama Book Shop and will be there for its grand reopening. It’s incredibly exciting to be part of something that is so important to New York City and to the Theatre Community.

More than just a job, it's an opportunity to inspire other writers, future playwrights, and be inspired myself. So definitely come and see the new shop. It’s going to be wonderful. It has some incredible people behind it. You never know who is going to walk through that door. Except…obviously me… you know I’ll walk through the door. Cause otherwise, like, how would I get into the building?

Jaime Lozano & The Familia's 'Songs by an Immigrant' album gives a heartfelt voice to the Latinx experience - DC Metro Theater Arts

Following sold-out debut cabaret concerts at Joe's Pub and The Green Room 42 in 2019, and a featured number on Playbill's virtual ¡Viva Broadway! BWW CD Review: SONGS BY AN IMMIGRANT Makes Bold Statements At Every Theatrical Turn

The first thing you notice when you turn on SONGS BY AN IMMIGRANT is that this is not pop music; neither is this music that the record stores of the past would have labeled "World Music".

"Hold Tight" is part of Lozano's new album Songs of an Immigrant, released by Broadway Records, and it is an eclectic collaboration of musical theatre, jazz, Mexican folklore, Tex-Mex, and Latin musicians and performers. "The album establishes Jaime as a force to be reckoned with in musical theatre, in Latin music, or wherever else he wants to go," says acclaimed Hamilton's creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Performing in Sidekick Production's Wasted on the Young was a much needed Covid19 Social Distancing escape. It was exactly what I needed to get out of my head, as well as , safely, out of my house. For me, the experience was a reward. But receiving recognition for my performance in it is such an amazing feeling. I'm so grateful to all at the Creature Feature Competition and Wicked Window Productions.

Interracial Couples Reflect on BLM - BLOOP

The Black Lives Matter movement has rightfully demanded an awareness of self and an accountability of others. As taught by our Black Brothers and Sisters who have led by example, our pursuit in ending systemic injustice and inequality has only just begun. Liberation is only achieved through solidarity with a recognition that change must occur.

Into the Woods we Encore Again Again

The timing couldnt have been more perfect. Rod and I were in California celebrating our anniversary, my stepdads birthday, and a needed vacation.  Just by CHANCE, South Hills High School was doing Into the Woods again. A few of us from the Encore! cast reunited again and went to see the show. It was like full circle full circle. We performed the show in high school, re-performed it on Encore, then watched a whole new generation do it in the same theatre. The show was fantastic. The kids were fantastic. And I may have even cried a little. So much emotion from so many different things. Then, as a surprise, the teacher asked if we would like to speak to the drama classes. Two days later, Billy, Dan, and I talked about the encore experience, then I got to talk to the kids about working as an actor/writer in NYC.

Kristen Bell's "Encore!" Reunites High School Theatre Geeks! | Gush About

In my dreams, I get the nod and leave the pleading masses behind, through the velvet ropes, with Liza on my arm or perhaps I'm riding a horse, into the most decadent gathering since the Roman Orgies, a light show above swirling dancers, people doing who knows what in the balcony, and above it all, the moon snorting coke.
