APRIL 2012

 

April 25th Amazing news! Mark’s manuscript for his novel “Little Corner” just won the The Dortort Family Prize in Creative Writing as well as an honorable mention for The Stark Award in Drama in Memory of Ross Alexander for an expert of (un)missed connections.

 

April 10th:  Faster Faster Pflaster! Mark is playing the role of Javier of The Taint of Equality- or-I Want your Sex by Duncan Pflaster. For those of you counting, this is his 4th Pflaster show, after Six Silences in Three Movements, Mine or Yours, and Men in Towels. The show plays at the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity throughout June.

 

April: 14th Looks like the one night only staged reading of the newly titled (un)missed connections isn’t happening….

….Because it’s now a full production. Performance dates are Wednesday 6/6/12 - 9pm, Monday 6/11/12 - 10pm,

Tuesday 6/12/12 - 7pm, Sunday 6/17/12 - 10pm, Sunday 6/24/12 - 1pm

MARCH 2012

March 25th  Mark filmed his scenes for Simple Moves over the 24th and 25th.

 

FEBRUARY 2012

 

February 25th    Mark is happy to announce that “Missed Connections” will have another stage reading. This time it will be part of the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity. The show will be in June. More info to come.

 

Also Mark’s play “Inscriptions” will play as part of a night of short plays about treasure. This night of plays will play in Rep with Jack Dyville’s play, “Umbrella’s in the Snow.” The shows will play May 1-6th

 

February 14th   Happy Valentines Day! Mark has just been cast in Pau Maso’s feature film Simple Moves. He will be playing the part of Michael. Filming begins in  late March. Check it out on IMDB.

 

JANUARY 2012

 

January 8th   Mark’s new 10 minute play “One Night At the Golden Boot” will play one night only as part of F.A.C.T’s Instant Theatre Festival. The playwrights met the actors Friday, wrote the plays Friday night, rehearsed Saturday, and put the show on its feet tonight, Sunday January 8th. Watch Chaos ensue!

 

DECEMBER 2011

 

December  10th   Mark’s play “Missed Connections” will have a staged reading presented by Dreamcatcher Entertainment on December 19th at Ryan’s Daughter on 86th street and 3rd  ave. The show will begin at 8pm and feature a talkback with the playwright.

 

NOVEMBER  2011

 

November 11th  Facing East has been nominated for BEST SPECIAL THEATRICAL EVENT in the BroadwayWorld Chicago Awards! To be included in a category with CARRIE FISHER and SUTTON FOSTER is truly an honor. But please, forget about The FOST and the FISH and come vote the FACE. Vote and make me happy.

October 22nd  F.AC.T.S Untucked: 5 short plays celebrating the GLBT community will open tomorrow. It includes Missed Connections and Duncan Pflaster’s “Yours Mine or Ours”  Be sure to check it out!

 

October 3rd- Mark will be doing live tweets from the final rehearsals and pre and post performance of the show. Be sure to keep checking back throughout the day.

 

October 1st Mark arrives in Chicago for the final rehearsals of Facing East.

 

SEPTEMBER 2011

September 25th  Keys had it’s first performance at ART on 8th Ave. as part of September Words and Wine, F.A.C.T.’s reading series. The show went very well, with William Kozy and Jillian Roppolo.

 

September 18th  Mark has just been cast in Duncan Pflaster’s play Yours Mine or Ours which performs at the same festival as Missed Connections.

 

September 15th  Mark’s musical FACING EAST will have a one night only concert run in Chicago at the Greenhouse Theatre on October 3rd. Check out information on playbill and broadwayworld.

AUGUST  2011

August 28th Mark is participating in a first table read of Duncan Pflaster’s new play Equality Here’s hoping to be in it’s future.

 

August 8th  Mark’s play Keys will be presented in FACT’s September Words and Wine on September 25th at 7 PM.

 

August 6th  Mark has been asked to be a resident playwright for the theatre group F.A.C.T. (Friends always creating theatre) His play Missed Connections   will be workshopped through them. It will have a performance October 23rd through October 25th.

 

August 1st  Mark has been cast in a new work called The Man Who Loved Islands which will have a run at the Secret Theatre in Long Island City September 15th -18th.

April 20th:
Look at the sky, its an episode of Pioneer One. Mark's episode ("Triangular Diplomacy" :episode 4) beings airing on Vodo April 28th. He play's Dr. Richard C.Hadfield, an astrobiologist. Be sure to check out Pioneer One's previous episodes to be all caught up with the story. Pioneer One is  unique that it is fully funded by its fans. So feel free to donate. April 7th:
Boo! Mark has just been cast as the lead role of Charlie in "Nocturnal Fury" A short horror/drama filming in Bronxville NY. He will be filming throughout April. Nocturnal Fury is about a man (Charlie) and his desperate battle with sleep paralysis. The ghostly presence that attacks him in his sleep can't be real. Can it?

April 3rd:
Moo! The Holy Cows of Credence South Dakota will get a one day only presentation as part of the Puzzle Festival of New Works! Be sure to check out The Holy Cows Facebook Page for more information about the rehearsal/casting process. The show will be presented on May 7th, at 2pm at Marble Collegiate Church on 29th and 5th ave. Moo!

January 11th: Big announcement! Mark has been cast as Sean in Duncan Pflaster's Six Silences in Three Movements. The show is part of Winterfest and will play at the Manhattan Rep on 42nd Street on March 19th, 20th, and 24th with possible extension. AND the Facing East logo has been revealed. Check the photos section for a glimpse of the new art. AND Mark will be participating in up and coming photographer, Melissa Segal's new photo show "In a box" using Hipstamatic.

September 1st:
Big News! Mark has been cast as "Richard C. Hadfield" an avid conspiracy theorist in the science fiction drama Pioneer One. The series involves the crashing of a satellite over the United States and Canada. Check out the trailer for the pilot here

July 24:
Breaking Moos! (news)."The Holy Cows of Credence, South Dakota" will run July 26th through 29th at the Little Theatre. Talks are going on for a cast recording. Come check out this show!

 

JUNE  2010


June 1:
"The Holy Cows of Credence, South Dakota" has begun rehearsals. The creative team includes Mark-Eugene as writer/director, Jeff Thomson as composer, based on the play "Holy Cows" by Carolyn Lardinois English and Royal Crane. Musical directing will be Aaron Jodoin, and assistant directing will be Dana King.

May 20:
"Ten Pages with 25 Words And a Nude Scene" with Mark-Eugene Garcia and Jared Dewese took second place at the Fresh Fruit Festival!!!

May 16:
"The Holy Cows of Credence,
South Dakota" has announced its cast. The cast will include Katherine Urban, Erin Martinez, Rebecca Lynne-David, Andy Navarro, Monique Renee, Elizabeth Zambrano, and Izzy Bocel. Moo!

May 5th
Mark has just been cast in Larson Rose's new play "Ten Pages with 25 Words and a Nude Scene"  in the lead role of Jay, to play at the Nuyorican Cafe as part of the fresh fruit festival.

It has been announced that Mark's musical "The Holy Cows of Credence,
South Dakota" will play at LaGuardia Performing arts center Little Theatre in July.

SEPTEMBER  2009

 

September 12: New York, by David Rimmer, opens in the Black Box of La Guardia theatre September 16 and plays through September 25th. Tickets are free. The story deals with September 11.2001 and the survivors. Mark plays Kyle Mcduffy, a survivor dealing with his guilt using alcohol, and Steven, a caterer trying to move on with his life. August 15: Leaves of Grass opens August 14-29th. Mark will be stripping down on friday and saturday night performances. Check it out at the Cell Theatre on 23 and 8th. 

 

August 1:  The Banana Kiwi Murders opens. If you have ever wanted to see Mark murdered by an alien banana, the time is now!

 

JULY 2009

 

July 16: Two big bits of news! After the recent reading of Hamlet, Mark can confirm that he will be playing Horatio in the March production.

Also, Mark is re-joining the cast of Leaves of Grass for three weeks at The Cell Theatre, in August. He looks forward to some Walt Whitman, and before that some intense Gym time.

July 4:

BIG NIGHT OUT, hosted by Jennifer Wren presents the fifth installment of our 2009 Featured Composers Series on Thursday, June 18th at 7:30 pm at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788 - ). MARCH 2009


March 29: Mark has been cast in the student horror film. The Understatement He will be playing Detective Cane, a policeman investigating a series of murders. Will he make it through alive?

March 28: Mark has been cast in Leaves of Grass,performing at the Cell theatre May15th And 16th. The performance is an all nude performance piece based on the poem by Walt Whitman. Until then, Mark will be at the gym every day.

March 9: The Jar and Up Against the Wall, Motherare open. The tickets are selling fast. Be sure to make a reservation.

March 8:The Facing East website has been updated, with an announcement that the Demo's should be up on the site shortly. The first song "All the Mother" was a recorded by the amazing Sierra Rein.

March 7, 2009- A new actress has stepped in, and will take over the role in Up Against the Wall, Mother. The show will go on.

March 6 : Unfortunatly, due to another actor's conflicts, Up Against the Wall, Mother will not be part of the night of one acts. As a word, if you are committed to a show, come to rehearsals, it screws over everyone.

February 11: Mark has been cast in the two one act plays, The Jar and Up Against the Wall, Mother playing at the Parker at the Algonquin March 9th-15th. 

February 7: Mark has been added to the cast of Have Mercy, also performing at the Parker at the Algonquin March 1rst- 8th. He will be playing George O'Reilly

February 5:  Mark has also been cast as the lead role of "Cubby" in John Raymond Barker's The Message Board, an eight episode web series, beginning to film at the end of Feb/ Early March.

February 4: Mark has just been cast in the one act play Circle Line as Donald. It play at the Parker Theatre at the Algonquin, March 1rst-8th.  Rehearsals begin on feb 7th.
